The Noble [Teaching]. The Sutra of the Great Chariot. Prajnya-paramita "Twenty-five Gates"
I bow before all the Enlightened and bodhisattvas!
Thus I heard once.
The Blessed One was in the nocturnal abode of all the gods, the summit of Mount Meru, along with many billions, hundreds of thousands of bodhisattvas. Then the Blessed One, the gods, the sons of the gods, the asuras, the vayus, the heavenly garudas, the nagas, the yakshas, the kinnaras, the rakshas, [wizards of] all mantra-breeding, the graha, the malignant spirits, the demon-pishats and mother mamo, visible and invisible, being vast and vast in number, gathered in a mandala circle of five hundred yojas. The monks, numbering one thousand two hundred and fifty, surrounded them and asked them to stand before [the Blessed One to bestow the Teachings]. [On this was] bestowed the Teachings.
Then the bodhisattva-mahasattva Vajrapani, completely surrounded by all of the vajra family and the many tens of millions of assemblies [possessing] knowledge, the assembly [possessing] the seal and the holders of the mantras of guidance, approached the place where the Blessed One was.
As he approached, he descended from the celestial space and offered praise, bowing his head at the feet of the Blessed One. After circling around the Blessed One three times, he sat down at the side.
Then the Blessed One said to Vajrapani, lord of the innermost:
Lord of the innermost! These twenty-five are the gates of the Perfection of Wisdom.
Praise be to all the Enlightened and bodhisattvas!
(1) Om! The diamond of enlightened attunement is the gateway to the Perfection of Wisdom! (2) Om! The all-good behavior is the gateway to the Perfection of Wisdom! (3) Om! The wish-fulfilling jewel - the gateway to the Perfection of Wisdom! (4) Om! The absence of suppression is the gateway to the Perfection of Wisdom! (5) Om! Turning [one's back] to birth is the gateway to the Perfection of Wisdom! (6) Om! All kinds of consciousness are the gateway to the Perfection of Wisdom! (7) Om! The supreme reality, the true nature of the great blaze [of passion] is the gateway to the Perfection of Wisdom! (8) Om! Zeal is the gateway to the Perfection of Wisdom! (9) Om! That which moves everywhere is the gateway of Perfection of Wisdom! (10) Om! Stability in all things [like] a diamond - the gateway of Perfection of Wisdom! (11) Om! All the Tathagatas are the gates of the Perfection of Wisdom! (12) Om! One's own nature as the perfectly pure supreme reality-dharmata and (13) the perfect purity of primordal wisdom-the gateway of the Perfection of Wisdom! (14) Om! The perfect purification of deeds-karma is the gateway to the Perfection of Wisdom! (15) Om! The Diamond Killer of Phat - the gateway to the Perfection of Wisdom! (16) Om! Perfect purity from longing and desire - the gateway of Perfection of Wisdom! (17) Om! Possession of the diamond-vajra that [moves] quickly is the gateway of Perfection of Wisdom! (18) Om! Hum that follows everywhere - the gateway of Perfection of Wisdom! (19) Om! Hri - the gateway of Perfection of Wisdom! (20) Om! The gate of the syllable A is the gate of Perfection of Wisdom! (21) Om! The Perfection of Wisdom itself is the gateway of the Perfection of Wisdom! (22) Om! Am and Hum are the gates of the Perfection of Wisdom! Om! E is the gateway to the Perfection of Wisdom! (23) Om! The highest of the corporeal forms of all the Tathagatas - the gateway to the Perfection of Wisdom! (24) Om! The perfectly pure speech of all the Tathagatas is the gateway of Perfection of Wisdom! (25) Om! The Vajras of the mind of all the Tathagatas are the gates of Perfection of Wisdom!
The Blessed One said thus. The Bodhisattva-mahasattva Vajrapani, the possessors of all [qualities] surrounding them, the whole world with gods, humans, asuras and gandharvas rejoiced and gave praise to what the Blessed One said.
Thus concludes the noble [teaching], the sutra of the Great Chariot called the Twenty-five Gates of Wisdom Perfection.
