Eight predictions by felicitous symbols

 

     Invocation for prediction:
     Kyai! Everything in the predictions is hidden and in the calculations concealed! Darkness cuts off keen vision! Let this and elemental impurities go to other [places]!
     HUM HUM MO KUN UCHATAYA PHAT

     Now I call upon the deity of divination with keen eyesight! I call upon the noble Avalokiteshvara, who looks with ever-loving eyes upon the six kinds of beings! I call upon Padmasambhava of Uddiyana, who sees the three times with indestructible clarity! I call upon Princess Mandarava, the ruler of the interdependence of inner and outer! I call upon Mother Yeshe Tsogyal, the foremost of the celestial dakinis, who transforms the four elements! I call upon the supreme body, the noble Manjushri, the supreme teacher of all prediction calculations! I call upon the blessed Guru Dragpo, the supreme salvation from all gods and demons! I call upon the protector Panjaranatha, the protector of the teachings, the lord of all Mamos and heavenly dakini deities! I call upon the great king Vaishravana, the king who protects the universe and the deity of wealth! I call upon all the deities with keen eyes, the worldly and primordial knowledge and all others, the eight deities of diagrams! May error and goodness be separated while cutting off the good and the lowly positions! Let clarity be exhibited in bringing certainty [in predictions]!
     All this should be shown with the necessary pride.
     Then put one of the pebbles, seven black and one white, on eight [characters]. If the white one falls out first, then two or three [additional drawings] should be used for certainty.
     If the second [drawings] are good, then definitely a good [result]. If the second [drawings] are [negative], then definitely a negative result. If there is doubt because of their inconsistency, then it is difficult to cut the rope [of doubt in determining the result].
     In accordance with the bestowed precepts of the precious manifested body - Araga recorded the invocation along with the precepts.

     Mangalam!
     The account of the great lord Mingyur Dorje will confuse those [who act] senselessly and will be hidden behind the back, behind the back. Realize in secret from [those acting] without purpose and without devotion.
     Seal. Seal. Seal.
     If not concealed, there will be a rupture of the instructions of the heavenly deity-dakinis.

     This was uttered by [Padmasambhava] of Uddiyana in a dream to the manifested body, Mingyur Dorje, at sunset on the twentieth day of the seventh month, when he was eleven years old.
