Tara practice, ransom from death

I prostrate before the white Tara!
In accordance [with what was explained] earlier, meditate on the absolute level of emptiness. Having done so, [visualize] the syllable tāṁ in the middle of the white lotus. From it arises the seat of the moon, [on which] is [the goddess] with her legs crossed in vajra pose. [With the wisdom of] the bestowal of the supreme, she holds the utpala. [Illuminated by] a light that is like the autumn moon. Indeed is on the moon. All-perfect with all adornments. Possesses a body of sixteen years of age. Consistently meditate on the noble Tara in the heart.
Her chakra is like the light of the moon. On the eight cells [there are] eight syllables. When indeed completely surrounded, the syllables "oṁ hā" are in the middle of the consonants. The name of the one for whom the practice is done is in the middle. The sage meditates for six months with the apparent steadiness of a unidirectional mind.
This mantra of ten syllables is repeated with an unwavering mind. Such is the mantra for this:
    oṁ tāre tuttāre ture svāhā
Through craving for the Tara chakra, one will definitely attain all the siddhis in six months and will not be concealed by the flaw of death.
Thus the practice of Tara [giving] the ransom from death is completed.
Translated by Lama Dhondup Dorje Tulku.
