siṁha-nāda-sādhanaṁ
Simhanada practice
I prostrate before the protector of the universe!
Anyone who is versed in mantras, by this mantra cast off all aspects of delusion.
First, for four periods of time, wash your face until it is clean. In a completely secluded place, make a mandala in front of the image of the body, etc., in front of the image of the body. When you have made numerous offerings, sit on a good seat. Meditate on the four measureless ones.
Then visualize the white syllable hrīḥ appearing on the disk of the moon, [which arises] from the syllable caṁ in one's own heart. Because of the light [from the syllable], the teacher-gurus, the Enlightened One, and the bodhisattvas appear in space with clarity. When you do so, again realize offerings and veneration with the cloud of offerings that have arisen from this emitted light. Having realized repentance for harmful things and compassion, ask for refuge in the Three Jewels. Through abiding in the path of the Victorious Ones, engender an enlightened attitude. Gathering the light again, meditate on the fact that everything turns into emptiness.
oṁ svabhāva śuddhāḥ sarva dharmāḥ svabhāva śuddho haṁ
oṁ śūnya tā jñāna vajra svabhāva ātma ko haṁ
     Say it like this.
Then quickly from the syllable paṁ [appears] a red lotus. On it from the syllable a appears a lion's seat. On it from the syllable caṁ appears the disk of the moon. On it from the syllable hrīḥ [appears] Simhanāda. He has one countenance, two hands, a body of white color, possesses an ornament of hair and Amitābha's diadem. With three eyes, sits in the posture of a great king, half cross-legged. With the palm of the left hand, which has the index finger touching the ground, I hold the trunk of a good lotus marked with a sword. On this side also possessing the lotus trunk is a white drop filled with various sweet-smelling flowers. The right hand rests on the knee. Resting on the outstretched [leg], [holds] a trident-trishula entangled with a white serpent. Meditate that being in front on the head possessing the nature of realizing meditative immersion, the Enlightened Ones of the five families radiate out. When you do so, visualize the syllable hrīḥ in the moon in the heart. With jaḥ hūṁ, the jñānasattva is grasped. With the help of baṁ, subjugation is accomplished. By doing so, by hoḥ you will engender joy. Visualize in this way.
     Then perform recitation:
oṁ āḥ hrīḥ siṁha nāda hūṁ phaṭ
This is how the practice of Simhanada is completed.
