durgati-uttāriṇī-sādhana
Durghati-uttarini practice
I prostrate myself before the noble Tara!
nama ārya avalokite śvārāya bodhisatvāya mahāsatvāya mahā kāruṇikāya namo bhagavatai ārya tārayai oṁ tāre tuttāre ture vīre durgati uttāraya hrīṁ hrīṁ hrīṁ sarva duḥ khāta mocani bhagavati durgā tvāraṇa uma hāyo geśca ri hrīṁ namo ture svāhā
Here [appears] the Blessed Durgati-Uttarini. Blue-green, with four arms. With her left hand she holds a harness. With the right hand she holds an iron hook. With devotion bestows blessings. With the right [hand composes mudra] bestowing the highest. Sketched garments and beautiful garlands. With the left hand holds a blue utpala. White robes are thrown over the body. Meditate in the three periods of time on her as abiding on the lotus seat.
Liberates from all suffering and realizes liberation from fetters. Binds with an iron chain, entangles with a harness, realizes liberation from paralysis by negative influences. Carry out recitation for the bound places.
By daily recitation in the number of one thousand or eight hundred times, liberation is realized. If not liberated, one becomes happy due to the splitting of the head and his life.
May <name> be set free!
If not released, his life and head will split open, contagious diseases will become great. Intolerable pains will become great. The practitioner will be granted [liberation from suffering] by vision. Definitely will be liberated for seven days.
This is proclaimed by the Blessed Durgati-uttarini. Saying "hūṁ hrīṁ jaḥ" seven times over the flower, carry out the offerings. In the middle of the offerings [visualize] "khaṁ tāṁ." Turning to the left, [appear] "bhrūṁ āṁ jrīṁ hūṁ." Turning to the right, [appearing] "lāṁ māṁ pāṁ pāṁ tāṁ."
In this way the practice of Durgati-uttarini is completed.
