Hymn to the noble Tara

I prostrate before the blessed Vagishvari!
[Thou art] the perfectly stable lotus root of aspiration in the perfect vast pond of faith! You abide on the lotus seat of mighty zeal! I prostrate before thee, O holy Tara!
When beings are depressed by commensurate obscurations, [thou] refreshest them with compassion, seated on the seat of the moon! Goddess that liberates tormented beings! I prostrate before thee, O holy Tara!
Like the chakra of the chariot of the two accumulations, thou shatters the two veils! Having done so, you sanctify [everything] on the ten levels and abide in the form of a goddess until samsara is emptied! I prostrate before thee, O holy Tara!
[You possess] a body that is stable like a mountain and unshaken by obscurations! Completely perfect in qualities, you [possess] an obese body. Possessing a large breast [or nipple] that is aroused by love! I prostrate before thee, O holy Tara!
Thou possessest the majestic posture of the body without being hidden by samsara! Possessing precious ornaments and attributes of enchantment! The head with blue-green hair possesses the tiara of the five families! I prostrate before thee, O holy Tara!
Thou possessest a sweet smile on a countenance that [is] filled with expansive pure happiness! Thou possessest compassion and activity that manifests from Vairochana! Thou possessest the methods and wisdom, the arrow and the bow that destroy Mara! I prostrate before thee, O holy Tara!
Thou protectest from fears, [manifesting] the bestowal of Refuge with the right hand! [Showing] charm to beings, [you appear] in the form of a youth of sixteen! [Being in] the assembly of the Karma family, [you appear] in the form of a blue utpala! I prostrate before thee, O holy Tara!
Thou art versed in the antidote that liberates from the four rivers, birth, old age, sickness and death! Holding the boat of love, thou possessest the oar of mercy! I prostrate before thee, O holy Tara!
By means of such stanzas as these, the goddess herself is praised with faith! May, on the basis of this praise, all living beings quickly attain the level of the Enlightened One!
Thus concludes the hymn to the holy Tara composed by Acharya Matichatri.
Translated by Lama Karma Paljor (O.E. Filippov).
