siṁha-nāda-dhārani

The Dharani of Simhanada

     namo ratna trayāya nama avalokite śvarāya bodhisatvāya mahāsatvāya mahā kāruṇikāya tadyathā oṁ a kaṭe vi kaṭe ni kaṭe kaṭaṁ kaṭe karo ṭe vīrye svāhā

     Recite this in the morning before the Blessed, Noble Lord of the Universe. After reciting, place cow dung that has not fallen onto the road. With this, you will form eight mandalas. For each mandala, repeat the dhāraṇī three times.
     Then anoint the glorious one seven times with the remnants of the cow dung, reciting the [dhāraṇī] once. By doing this, you will bring peace to all who are ill. Otherwise, if within seven, thirteen, or twenty-one days no [results] are achieved due to the commission of the five incomparably [evil] acts, then in this life that person has committed the five incomparably [evil] acts. And I, too, will be humiliated by the Enlightened Ones.
     Thus ends the Simhanada dharani.
