The Practice of Tara

    Meditate on the syllable tāṁ, which resides at the center of the utapala arising from the syllable tāṁ. From it, when it becomes perfect, the noble Tara [appears]. With a blue-colored body, her right [hand forms] the mudra of supreme bestowal. With her left hand, she holds the utpala. She sits upon a fine throne. Amoghasiddhi resides as her head ornament. Meditate thus.
    Uniting it with the jñānasattva, [say]:
    oṁ tāre tuttāre ture – May <name> be subjugated! svāhā
    Immediately after reciting this, along with the name of the one for whom [the recitation is performed], perform the recitation with the exact number of repetitions. Even if there are no attributes such as an arrow, etc., the neck of the one for whom the practice is performed will be entwined by the utpala. A cluster of rays of light emanating from one’s own body completely envelops their body. In this way, you bring them under your own control.
    Such is the practice of Tara.
