Hymn to the noble Tara
I prostrate before the noble Mahakarunika!
Mother of the prayer-wish of Amitabha!
Mother with the beautiful flower and the Moon that generates the attunement!
Mother on the lotus of the protector of creation!
Mother that keeps like a sick person in the palms of her hands!
Mother that holds a garland of flowers opened like emptiness!
Mother that is direct in attentiveness and acts like an old woman!
A mother that hesitates as she moves and sits!
A mother pleasant to the mind with a body [adorned with] mudras!
A mother of sound, the ruler of speech!
Mother that blesses only because of remembrance!
Mother that possesses the body of desire!
Mother that [is] the ushnishe on Sugata's head!
Mother with the diadem that is dedicated by the Victorious Ones!
Mother that by messengers deceives untimely death!
Mother with tears of compassion [that] drip from her eyes!
Mother, [that keeps] heartfelt commitments by diligently practicing the vows of monks!
Mother that leads to completion through the love of Nairatmya!
Mother that surpasses by leaving the nine levels!
Mother who is as young as tomorrow morning!
Mother that [appears] as the girl of the current day!
The mother that [is] like the evening, the old woman of the past!
The mother that [appears] as the impermanence of changeability in the three times!
Mother who realizes protection from the eight great fears!
Mother who bestows subtle and great attainments!
Mother who gives offerings as the mother who desires the highest!
Mother that [pours out] the stream that cures living beings!
Mother of the mother of the supreme medicine that eliminates poisons!
Mother of the nectar of the good and discarding the harmful!
Mother, Victorious Mother, that brings forth the Enlightened Ones!
Mother that shows me her countenance in the power of compassion!
Such is the hymn to the holy noble Tara. Composed by dharma-pandita Tritiya-shata-sahasra.
