The practice of Kurukulla arising from Hevajra
I prostrate before the goddess Kurukulla!
The mantrik should first visualize over the disk of the moon in his own heart the red syllable hrīḥ. By the light from it invite into the space before [me] the multitude of Enlightened Ones and bodhisattvas that are led by the goddess. Make offerings to them of various kinds of gifts manifested from the mind or collected as real. Having done so, on the basis of the direction to Refuge and so forth, realize the seven branches.
After that, cover all living beings with the four measureless ones. Then by the mantra svabhāva mark in a broad way the entire vessel and contents in the nature of emptiness. Then from the nature of emptiness [arise] the syllable raṁ. Visualize that out of it [appears] the disk of the Sun. Meditate on the blue syllable hūṁ on top of it. When it becomes perfect, [from it appears] a multicolored vajra. When it becomes perfect, the top, the bottom, all the cardinal and intermediate directions become entangled with the vajr ground, the vajr fence, the vajr tent. Then recite a mantra like this:
oṁ rakṣa rakṣa hūṁ hūṁ phaṭ phaṭ svāhā
Then visualize the mandala of the moon on top of the red lotus in my heart. Meditate on the red seed syllable hrīḥ on top of it. Meditate on the red lotus utpala [arising] from the syllable hrīḥ that has become perfect. Meditate on the vast red-colored disk of the moon that is on top of it. When it becomes perfect, I myself appear from it as the goddess Kurukulle with a red-colored body.
She possesses one countenance, four arms, and five seal-wisdoms. The lower part [of her body] is wrapped in the skin of a tiger. She sits half cross-legged in this position. The yellow [or red] hair on her head rises up. She possesses a tiara that is [bestowed] by the Enlightened One Amitabha. She holds the attributes of a bow, an arrow, a rope of utpal and an iron hook. A yogī that meditates in this way should perform the recitation of such a mantra:
oṁ kurukulle hrīḥ svāhā
Carry out the recitation silently. In half a month unite [by subduing] the king. By ten thousand [repetitions] you will subdue most [ordinary beings]. By ten million [repetitions] you will subdue cattle, yakshas, etc. By seven hundred thousand [repetitions, subdue] the asuras.
Such is the practice of Goddess Kurukulla, based on the glorious Hevajra.

Five great commentaries on Kurukulla that have arisen from Hevajra
I prostrate before the blessed Hevajra!
Due to the prompting of the supreme prana life force from the heart center, enter [prana] inside the supreme central channel and rise upward. Quickly emanating from the center of the moon on the top of the head and consistently rotating to the left side of the head, possessing a movement toward clarity. When emanating from the right ear, quickly place your hand on the arrow hole and meditate on Mahamudra.
Having done so, carry out the practice with the quick and special vajra, syllable-seed, king, essence, and the effulgence of red rays of light. Having done so, realize, as before, the enlargement of the arrow hole with the hand. By doing so, fully immerse yourself in the hole that perceives sounds.
Possessing the movement toward clarity in the nostril on the right side of the head, quickly entangle with the mind the syllable hrīḥ, which is in the middle of the lotus in the heart. Having bound it, throw out from there on the path what follows according to the sequence. Having done so, forcefully gather the deity together with the earth chakra that abide in the middle of the heart with steadiness. Seize as previously shown.
Having emitted from the arrow as previously shown, enter the left side of the lotus of the one doing the practice. Point upward and the Moon on the top of the head begins to gradually ooze out. Enter it, similar to the one shown earlier. The yogi that abides on the lotus-colored top [should] meditate with steadiness. Due to this, the appearance of the mother, that possesses victory due to the actions of falling [drops] due to passion, will be drunk. Thus bind the feet.
Beholding with clarity the place in the middle of the moon in the heart, when one holds the manifestations, by means of ablution with the flow of the numerous nectar of the rays of light, the poison of the manifestations is eliminated. The opening of the channel is filled with rays of light. And on the basis of this, the poisons are destroyed. In the place in the middle of the moon that possesses light, seize [everything] by means of such serpents. When you do so, you, O deity, destroy the poison with love. Such is the elimination of the poison of the serpent.
Possessing the aspect of a stable lamp, is presented at the top of the tongue due to the mind that contemplates with stability. If so, misunderstanding and peculiar errors are eliminated. In this way, wisdom will increase.
With clarity, the place of the mandala of the wind and the iron hook come in contact with the heart. Loop the rope around the waist. Travel naked and with hair loose. O goddess, seizing with the power of yoga the one who holds wealth, place your feet close [to each other]. Constantly adhere to the state of a servant. Entangle the aspects with the net of light that possesses the red aspect. Put your own feet close [to each other], spread your hair, emit the arrow of your hands. Having done so, seize the left wind-prana and entangle. Enter inside the lotus. Enter the lotus center at the navel. And with devotion, join your palms together. Perform from the top of the head the ablution with the blood that drips from the lotus of sattva. If the yogi meditates in this way, he will also gather and subdue the power of the deity. Such is the dissolution with power.

Hymn of praise to Kurukulla, noble Tara
I prostrate before the noble Tara with great strength!
Though thou art not alienated from the purity that is equal to the unchanging, thou art realized with individual comprehension of the purpose of beings! You radiate red light and are as splendid as a thousand suns! Mother with one face and four hands! I prostrate before thee!
Goddess arising from the syllable hrīḥ! Mother of the red color with four arms! Mother with hands [in which you hold] an arrow and a bow! I prostrate before thee, holder of the iron hook!
[Thou hast] a light that burns like the flame of [the end of] the age! You have one face and three eyes! The red-yellow hair on your head rises upward, blazing! I prostrate and praise the one who holds utpala!
You sit in a dancing pose with your legs half crossed! Thou standest in a posture displaying fierce anger! Wearing a tiara of five skulls! I prostrate and praise the one holding the skin of a tiger!
Unbearable red body with bared fangs! Great in might, you are adorned with five wisdom seals! You possess a necklace of a garland of half a hundred [heads]! I prostrate before the mother that destroys the demon-Mara!
On the basis of entering into the equilibrium of Sanskrit vowels and consonants, thou art constantly rejoicing in bliss! Your head is adorned with enlightenment and Amitabha! I prostrate before the one who expresses joy with dance!
You suppress with the arrow and the bow! You subdue with the utpala flower! With the iron hook thou bringest out of the clutches of obscurations! I prostrate before [possessing] four arms and pure from the demon-Mara!
Thus concludes the hymn to the noble Tara, the goddess Kurukulla.

The practice of Kurukulla
Oṁ! I prostrate before the Blessed Noble Goddess Tara!
Everyone first removes hindrances by being with [half] crossed legs in the bodhisattva stance.
Such is such a mantra:
oṁ amṛiti hūṁ phaṭ svāhā
Then when you concentrate on the Enlightened Ones and bodhisattvas [who are] in the center of heavenly space, immediately head for refuge:
oṁ ratna trayaṁ smaśara naṁ kritva
oṁ svabhāva śuddhaḥ sarva dharmāḥ svabhāva śudho haṁ
oṁ śūnyatā jñāna vajra svabhāva ātma ko haṁ
Then from the syllable paṁ [appears] a lotus. From the syllable a on it [arises] the disk of the moon. From the syllable tāṁ formed there [arises] utpala. After that realize the invitation:
oṁ bhagavati samaya śvare sarva uttama tita jaḥ adhiṣṭha naṁ mi kuru svāhā
After that [appears] the Blessed One, with three countenances and six arms. The right, left, and main countenances are dark, yellow, and red. In the first of the right hands she holds a white chakra sign for bestowing fearlessness. In the second is an arrow. In the third is an iron hook. In the first of the left hands is a red utpala along with a bundle of jewels. In the second is a bow. In the third is a harness. The red colored body stands on a red lotus seat. Possesses the tiara of the five Tathagatas. On the body [are] all the ornaments.
In the eastern direction is Prasanna-tara. In the southern direction, Nesanna-Tara. In the western direction, Deepa-Tara. In the northern direction, Karna-Tara. In the direction of fire - Mani Tara. In the direction free from truth, Jaya-Tara. In the direction of wind, Gauri-Tara. In the direction of power is Vira-Tara. All of them with four hands, in which the [mudra] of supreme giving is manifested, hold a utpal, an arrow and a bow. With a body of red color, are seated on a red lotus seat. Possess the tiara of the five Tathagatas. The bodies are adorned with all ornaments.
Their mantras are:
oṁ kurukulle hūṁ hrīṁ svāhā
oṁ pra sanna tāri hūṁ hri svāhā
oṁ ne sanna tāri hūṁ hrīṁ svāhā
oṁ dīpa tāri hūṁ hrīṁ svāhā
oṁ karṇa tāri hūṁ hrīṁ svāhā
oṁ maṇi tā ri hūṁ hrīṁ svāhā
oṁ jaya tāri hūṁ hrīṁ svāhā
oṁ gaurī tāri hūṁ hrīṁ svāhā
oṁ vīra tāri hūṁ hrīṁ svāhā
In the gate in the eastern direction is Vajra-vatīli, whose fangs are grinning. The countenance is volatile and she possesses attributes that are acceptable for intimidation. In her four hands she holds an arrow, a bow, an iron hook with a vajra and a lute with a harness. Possesses the diadem of Akshobhya.
In the southern gate is Vajra-gandhari. Her countenance is austere. Her hair is twisted. Her stomach is downward sloping. Four hands hold a vajra, a bell, an iron hook and a harness. Possesses a tiara of Ratnasambhava.
In the western gate is Aparijita. The hair is surging upwards. The abdomen is sagging. In four hands [shows the mudra of] a scorpion, holds an iron hook and a harness. Possesses Amitabha's diadem.
In the northern gate is Ekajata. The hair is surging upward. The abdomen hangs down. In four hands holds a hammer, vajra, axe and harness. Possesses a diadem of Amoghasiddhi. Stands with the right leg extended and the left leg tucked up. The four gate keepers with red colored bodies are on the lotus seat.
Their mantras are:
oṁ vajra vatili hūṁ phaṭ
oṁ vajra ghandhari hūṁ phaṭ
oṁ vajra aparījita hūṁ phaṭ
oṁ vajra ekajaṭā hūṁ phaṭ
oṁ ārya avalokiteśvarāya bodhisatvāya mahā satvāya mahā kāruṇikāya tadyathā oṁ āgaccha āgaccha bhagavati tāri ātya bali kite śvara satyena svāhā
By repeating seven times over incense with incense, one will realize the invitation.
namaḥ ārya avalokiteśwarāya tadyathā oṁ sori sora vate hera hera svāhā
That is the mantra for water.
namaḥ ārya avalokiteśvarāya tadyathā oṁ tari tari vati sarva caturtha sādhane tiṣṭha tiṣṭha yad karyāṁ siddhi me kuru svāhā
The mantra for the flowers.
namaḥ ārya avalokiteśvarāya tadyathā megha megha svāri doga svā kuru kuru bhara bhara svāhā
The mantra of incense.
namaḥ ārya avalokiteśvarāya tadyathā oṁ bokka bokka bha mane jvāla jāla dīpa svāhā
That was the mantra of the oil lamp.
namaḥ ārya avalokiteśvarāya tadyathā oṁ hara hara horu horu gandha vasani svāhā
Mantra of flavors.
namaḥ ārya avalokiteśvarāya tadyathā oṁ svabhāva diha diha kuru kuru de śaṁ baliṁ hūṁ phaṭ svāhā
Torma mantra.
namaḥ ārya avalokiteśvarāya tadyathā here here hara hara sarva satva kāruṇi śīghraṁ āgaccha devatā bhagavān ātya avaloketeśvara samaya manu smarana svāhā
When having joined the palms of the flower, carry out the introduction to the torma.
The mantra for supplication to come:
oṁ pra sanna ne spana prati pra karana mane jaya gure sa vire tara vetale gandha resa vajra hasta aparājita ekajāṭaṁ nama miḥ oṁ tara tara ṇe hūṁ hara hara svāhā
Repeat twenty-one times with the left hand on the clay with the horns of the best bull. If by doing so you blow, you will subdue.
This is how the practice of the Blessed Kurukulla is completed.

Practice the fast “Essence of Thirteen”
I prostrate before the goddess Kurukulla!
I will explain the realization of Kurukulla.
If one has first previously realized the recitation [of a mantra] numbering one hundred thousand times for approaching, then [it] will appear as siddhi. Realize the perfect teaching, the ritual of the drawn body. Adorn the four corners, the four gates, the four twaranas. In the midst of this, draw Kurukulla. With a body of red color and eight arms. The two first hands constitute the seal-mudra of perfect victory over the three spheres. In his right hands he holds an iron hook, a taut arrow, [constitutes] the seal-giving seal of the supreme. In his left hands he holds a harness, a bow, and an utpala. Thus draw.
In the east, draw the inquiring Tara. In the south, draw the Siddha-Tara. In the north, draw the listening Tara. In the direction of fire, draw the Aparajita-Tara. In the direction of rakshasa, draw the perfectly radiant Tara. In the direction of wind, draw Vira-Tara. In the direction of possessing power, draw the inducing Tara.
These goddesses with a body of red color. The head is adorned with the five Tathagatas. Adorned with all ornaments, with four arms. The right hand is in the gesture of giving the supreme and with an arrow drawn. The left hand holds the utpala and the bow.
In the gate of the eastern direction is Vajravetali with a large belly, terrifying countenance, wavering tongue. She is adorned with the diadem of Akshobhya. In her right hands is a scorpion, an iron hook. In the left holds a vajra with a bell and a kapala. Draw with the right leg extended.
In the gate in the southern direction - Vajravarahi with a large belly. Hair streaming upwards. Terrifying countenance, tongue twitching. The body is red in color. Possesses the tiara of Ratnasambhava. In his right hands he holds a vajra and an iron hook. In his left hands he holds a bell and a harness. The right leg is stretched out.
In the gate of the western direction is Ekajata. Hair tied in a knot on the top of the head. A large belly. Teeth pressing against the lips. Adorned with Amitabha's tiara. In her right hands a vajra and an iron hook. In left hands holds a vajr with a bell and a harness. The right leg is extended. Picture it like this.
In the gate of the northern direction is Vajrasaraswati. Adorned with a diadem of Amoghasiddha. With a terrifying countenance and a large belly. In her right hands a sword and an iron hook. In the left, a vajr with a bell and a harness. The right leg is extended. Thus depict the bodily forms of the entities. According to the sequence carry out consecration.
This is the stage of meditation. The like body of the Blessed One is shown in perfection. It is completely formed from the red syllable hrīḥ, which is on the disk of the Sun. Contemplate as abiding near the base, which appears as possessing the color red. The three universes are filled with their own rays of light. The disk of the wind, which appears from the blue syllable yaṁ, is adorned with a victorious standard like a bow. If one for whom the practice is practiced is placed on it, he will be subdued. The three worlds will also be subdued.
Such is the seal of the seal of perfect victory over the three worlds. Interlock the fingers of the two hands. Intertwine the ring fingers in the form of a knot. Intertwine the tips of the little fingers, middle fingers and thumbs. Intertwine the index fingers in the form of a metal hook. Touch this [wisdom] to the place in the interbrow. Such is the seal-mudra of victory over the three worlds. When meditating in this way, carry out the recitation of the secret mantra:
oṁ kurukulle hūṁ hrīḥ svāhā
By realizing the recitation numbering ten thousand, all beings will become obedient. [Repeat] the mantra a great number of times. By means of one hundred thousand [repetitions] you will subdue the king. If you perform the burning of gifts with the utpala flower and the arka tree, you will attain the desired goals. When the bhet flame is lit, perform the burning of gifts a hundred thousand times using your hands with rice and without smoke. If you do so, you will also subdue the royal minister. By a thousand [offerings of flowers] utpala you will also subdue the great minister. Through the offering of a thousand apricot oil lamps to the goddess, one will also subdue the king.
Thus concludes the thirteen essences of the goddess Kurukulle.
